Why Sea Change?
Our oceans are drowning in plastic. With over 5 trillion plastic pieces already drifting through our seas and 8 million more tonnes added every year. From the tiny plankton to majestic whales, marine life is suffering. But this isn’t just their problem- it’s ours too. Microplastics have invaded every corner of our lives-they’re in our food, water, air, even our bloodstream and brains- carrying harmful chemicals throughout the ecosystems into our bodies. Despite recycling efforts, only 9% of all plastic ever produced has been processed, while global plastic production continues to skyrocket.
